Weavers' Terraces and Works Housing
Barnoldswick was built by the cotton trade and then kept going by engineering, and both left their mark on the housing. Long runs of stone weavers' terraces near the centre, works housing around them, and post-war and modern estates spreading out towards Salterforth Road and Coates.
Terrace kitchens here are typically narrow, single aspect, and fitted wall to wall because there was never a spare inch. That rules out most of the usual advice about reconfiguring a layout. What it does not rule out is changing the colour, which is the one intervention that costs nothing in floor space.
The later estate housing gives us more of the standard job: a fifteen to twenty year old kitchen in oak, cream or gloss, sound in every respect except that it announces its age the moment you walk in.
How It Runs
Over the Border, Same Booth
The A6068 out of Cross Hills runs straight there, so Barnoldswick is a shorter run for us than Harrogate despite being in a different county. Being over the border changes nothing about the price or the process.
Doors and drawer fronts come back to the workshop for spraying. Carcasses, frames and end panels are masked off and sprayed in place on the refit visit.
Around ten days between collection and refit. In a narrow terrace kitchen we will talk through where the van can park and how we get the doors out before the day, not on it.
