Skipton Kitchens Worth Keeping

Skipton is a market town that largely did not knock itself down. Gritstone terraces run back off the High Street and the canal basin, there are Victorian villas out along Gargrave Road and Raikes Road, and then the later estates at Greatwood, Horse Close and Aireville around the edges. Three quite different kinds of kitchen, and all three respray well.

In the older stone houses the kitchen is usually a room with awkward dimensions, and whatever is in there was fitted to suit it. Tear that out and you are paying a joiner to solve the same puzzle a second time. Respraying keeps the units that already fit, the worktops and the layout, and changes the one thing that has actually dated, which is the colour.

On the newer estates the problem runs the other way: the kitchen is sound, and identical to four others on the street. A colour change is the cheapest way to stop it looking like a developer picked it.

How It Runs

Ten Minutes Each Way

Being this close changes how the job runs. We can usually reach you, take the doors and drawer fronts off and have them back at the booth the same morning, rather than building a day around the travel.

Reckon on around ten days from collection to refit. Most of that is not spraying. It is the degreasing, sanding, filling and priming that decides whether the finish is still on the doors in five years.

“Great service by Harry and his team. I feel like we have a brand new kitchen. The quality of the finish on the units is much better than I thought possible. The best value for money I have ever spent on home improvements.”

Colours & Finishes

Matching a Colour to a Stone House

Gritstone throws a warm, slightly grey light back into a room, so a white that looked crisp on a card can read blue once it is on the doors. Send a photo of the room and we will tell you honestly how a colour will sit before you commit to it. We match to Farrow & Ball, RAL and British Standard, and the awkward shades cost no more than the easy ones.

Photos are enough for a price on most Skipton kitchens. The full process is on our kitchen respraying page.
