uPVC Spraying in Gargrave

Fifteen minutes up the A65, on the road we take into the Dales anyway. Gargrave is small and almost entirely stone, which makes the white uPVC in it very easy to see.

Small Openings in Thick Walls

Gargrave sits where the Leeds and Liverpool canal, the River Aire and the Pennine Way all cross, and the village is largely stone: cottages round the green and Church Street, canal-side houses, and larger properties out along West Street and the Marton road.

Cottage windows are small, set deep in thick walls, and there are usually a lot of them. When those openings were reglazed the frames went in white, and against dark gritstone in a deep reveal a white frame reads as a bright rectangle rather than a window.

The larger houses out along West Street and towards Marton have more conventional openings, and often a garage door and railings that were done at a different time in a different colour again.

Porch frames taken to the same colour as the door they sit around. Pulling the separate elements of a stone frontage into one colour does more for the house than changing any of them on its own.

How It Runs

On Our Way Anyway

The A65 through Gargrave is our route into upper Craven, so a quote visit here is genuinely easy to fit in rather than something we build a day around.

Frames stay in the wall and are masked and sprayed where they are. In a cottage with deep reveals the masking is the slow part, because the stone comes right up to the frame and there is no margin for overspray.

One to two days for most cottages, given how small the openings are. Longer where there is a garage door and railings to bring in as well.

Where a cottage window sits hard against stone we mask to the frame edge by hand rather than running tape along the wall, because on rough gritstone tape lifts and overspray follows it.

“Great service from start to finish from Harry and the team. Given recent experiences with other trades people it was a breath of fresh air to receive fast, honest and knowledgeable communication and to then have them turn up on time and do what they said they would! The kitchen looks absolutely amazing and you can tell that a lot of effort and attention to detail was put in to doing it right. The price was great and the after care phenomenal. There were a few bits that needed sorting and Jonny went above and beyond for us. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to get a quality job done.”

Colours & Finishes

Off-White, Not Bright White

Not every stone cottage wants anthracite. On a small deep-set window a very dark frame can shrink the opening and make an already dim room dimmer, and a warm off-white or a stone grey often does more. It keeps the light and loses the glare that a brilliant white gives you. We match to RAL and British Standard, so the choice is not limited to what a window company happened to stock. The coating is an exterior uPVC system rather than a household paint, UV stable and warranted for 10 years, which on a small cottage window is the difference between doing it once and doing it again.

Photographs of the front and any other elevation you want doing. Being fifteen minutes away we can come and look if that is easier, and the quote is free either way. The full process is on our upvc spraying page.
