White Frames on Gritstone
Skipton is a market town that largely did not knock itself down, and that is exactly why its uPVC looks the way it does. Gritstone terraces run back off the High Street and the canal basin, there are Victorian villas along Gargrave Road and Raikes Road, and the later estates sit at Greatwood, Horse Close and Aireville.
In the older stone streets almost nothing has its original joinery. Timber sashes and casements were swapped for white uPVC across the eighties, nineties and two thousands, and white was simply what was sold. Thirty years on, a bright white frame against weathered gritstone is the single loudest thing on most of these frontages.
On the estates the problem is uniformity rather than contrast. The frames are sound, the glazing units are fine, and every house on the street has the same white. Spraying is the only way to change that without a skip and a fitter.

How It Runs
No Frames Leave the House
This is the part people get wrong when they price a uPVC respray against a kitchen. A kitchen's doors come off and come to Cross Hills. A window does not come out of the wall. Everything here is masked, prepared and sprayed in place, at your address.
Being ten minutes away means we can quote in person without making an appointment of it, and it means weather is manageable. uPVC wants a dry, still stretch to spray, and working this close we can move a day rather than lose a job.
Most houses are two to three days depending on how many elevations and how much detail there is. You keep the use of the house throughout.
Conservatories and garden rooms are quoted separately from the house, because a roof frame is a different job from a window: more surface, more angles, and more of it in direct sun.
“Recently moved house, however the composite door was so badly faded. I got in touch with Chameleon spray painting and i can honestly say I am so pleased I did. The whole door and frame have been spray painted, including the gas/electric meter boxes. It has made such difference and looks absolutely amazing just like new. I would highly recommend.”

Colours & Finishes
Anthracite, or Something Quieter
Anthracite grey is what most of Skipton asks for and it does sit well against gritstone, but it is not the only answer. On a paler stone frontage a warm grey or a soft black can look less like a new-build and more like it belongs. We match to RAL and British Standard ranges, so the colour is a decision rather than a menu of three. Worth saying too: the finish is a coating made for exterior uPVC, not a household paint, and it carries a 10 year warranty. That is the part that decides whether a sprayed frame still looks sprayed in five years.
Send photographs of each elevation and we can price most Skipton houses from those. If it is easier we will come and look, and either way the quote is free. The full process is on our upvc spraying page.
